In a message sent to parents Buttonwillow School continues to monitor what is happening throughout the state with regard to COVID-19, the Corona Virus.
We are working closely with all public school districts throughout Kern County and especially close with the Kern County Superintendent of School Office.
At this time there are no reported cases of the virus in Kern County. Therefore, we are following the original recommendations. We have suspended our athletics program, have cancelled fieldtrips, and have cancelled all assemblies that have been planned through April 13th.
This situation is unprecedented and remains fluid. Our priority remains the health and safety of our students. Therefore, we are developing plans for student instruction and food service should either the Governor of California or the public schools in Kern County decide it is in the best interest to close schools in Kern County. We will continue to work with other small schools throughout the state and county as part of the Small School Districts’ Association to discuss the best way to deliver services to rural schools, such as Buttonwillow.
We will continue to keep our school and community informed as things change. Please remember we are One Town-One School- One Community
